Here’ a scene I hope you will not face, but maybe you will.
Company security officers have invited you to a meeting at your work place in Oakland, Fremont, Hayward, Pleasanton, or some other location in Alameda County, and confronted you with some evidence of taking company property or money for your own use.
If you have not talked to them yet, DON’T. You should not say anything to them or to the police without first consulting a lawyer. If you have talked to them, stop now and get a lawyer.
Let’s say you’ve told them everything and now the police have arrested you and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged the case. Here’s the good news: this is probably a money case, and a money case can be solved with money. This is what I mean: If you are charged in Alameda County, Hayward for example, or for that matter just about anywhere, with a sex offense, or possession of drugs, or assault, you cannot solve that case with money. This case, stealing from an employer, can be solved with money. So start gathering some. The more money you come up with quickly the better off you are.
How this case is resolved depends on how much was stolen, over what period of time, and how much you can quickly pay back.
